OL97: Sent Mail Disappears with Focal Point Extensions Loaded (163089)

In Outlook, the following symptoms may occur:
- If you send a message, the message may seem to disappear; it
does not appear in the Outbox or Sent Items folders.
-or-
- If you send a message, when the recipient receives the message it may not contain any text in the Subject or Body fields.
-or-
- If you save a message to the Drafts folder, the text in the body of the message is lost and only the To and Subject fields still contain information.
NOTE: If you share the same Exchange Server mailbox with Outlook 98 or Outlook 2000 clients, Outlook 97 only has a default Drafts folder.
CAUSE
These symptoms can occur if you have Global Village Communication's Focal
Point extensions on your system. Focal Point is software that integrates
e-mail, voicemail, fax paging, data communications and Internet access.
Focal Point software can come preinstalled on your computer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use the Outlook Add-In Manager to disable the Focal Point
extensions:
- In Outlook, click Options on the Tools menu to open the Options dialog box.
- Click the General tab, and then click Add-In Manager to open the
Add-Ins dialog box.
- In the list of add-ins, click to clear any add-in that references
your Focal Point software.
- Click OK, and then click OK again to close all of the dialog boxes.
- On the File menu, click Exit and Log Off.
- Press CTL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager.
- Make sure that the Mapisp32.exe program has stopped running. If it is still running,
either wait for it to stop or end the task.
- Restart Outlook.
