SUMMARY

When you print, the choices available under Print Quality are based on the size of the image and the print size you choose. When there isn't enough detail in an image, a Better or Best setting for Print Quality won't improve image quality but will slow performance noticeably. Picture It! takes this into account and offers appropriate print quality settings for the image and the print size you've selected.

MORE INFORMATION

If you open a PictureArt cutout on a blank canvas and select a print size (step 4) of Fit to Page, the only Print Quality option will be Good. If you reduce the print size to 3x5 inches the Print Quality options will be Good, Better, and Best. In the first case, you are stretching a small image to fill a larger area and there isn't enough detail in the image to support Best print quality.

If you open a PictureArt Background instead of a PictureArt Cutout, you get a larger image to begin with and you see all three print quality options at the larger print size.

In general, the larger the file you open, and the higher the resolution you open at, the more print quality options you will have.

To change the resolution at which images are opened, do the following:

  1. From the View menu, choose Options.
  2. Click Advanced Options.
  3. Select the resolution you want, Computer Display, Photographic, or Professional.
NOTE: Increasing the resolution at which images are opened cannot add detail to an image if the image has low resolution to begin with; it only allows you to see detail if it is there already.
