XL97: Unusual Sheet Names Appear Using Custom Sheet Template (162794)

When you insert a worksheet in Microsoft Excel 97, the name of the
worksheet may be different from the name you expected.
For example, instead of sheet names that appear as follows
sheet names may appear as follows:
Sheet1 (2)
Sheet1 (3)
Sheet1 (4)
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you use a custom worksheet template (Sheet.xlt) in
the Xlstart folder.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, manually rename the worksheets. To rename a
worksheet, do the following:
- On the Format menu, point to Sheet, and then click Rename.
-or-
Double-click the sheet tab of the worksheet you want to rename.
- Type the new sheet name.
- Press ENTER.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
