The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01 for Windows 95
This article was previously published under Q161925 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to open another program while you are viewing a Web page
using Internet Explorer, one of the following symptoms may occur:
CAUSE
The Web page you are viewing contains a POST command in the Hypertext
Markup Language (HTML) document.
STATUS
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
The POST command is used to upload data from a client to a server on the
Internet by means of an HTML form. Internet Explorer caches the data
uploaded to the server in random access memory (RAM), filling RAM based on
the amount of data sent using the POST command. Quitting Internet
Explorer, and thus removing the data from RAM, is the only way to increase
the system resources.
