ABS: Removing ABS Does Not Remove ABS from the Start Menu (161843)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Commercial Internet System 1.0
This article was previously published under Q161843 SYMPTOMS
Removing the Address Book Server (ABS) does not always remove the ABS
folder from the Start menu. If you click the Start Service Page icon in
this ABS folder, Internet Explorer starts, but is unable to load anything,
because the files were deleted when you removed the program.
If you shut down and restart the server, the ABS folder still remains in
the Start menu, but the Start Services Page icon is removed.
WORKAROUND
To remove the ABS folder from the Start menu, you must manually delete the
shortcut. You can do this by starting Windows Explorer, going to the
Windows\Start menu\Programs folder, and deleting the ABS folder.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial
Internet System (MCIS) ABS version 1.0. We are researching this problem and
will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
