TMGR: Removing Actuals Sets Status to In Progress (161822)

SYMPTOMS

If an assignment has non-zero Actual Work, then clearing all the Actual Work sets the assignment Status to In Progress.

This behavior occurs regardless of the original Status of the assignment, but is incorrect if the original Status was "Waiting on someone else" or Deferred.

WORKAROUND

From the Status field for the assignment, reselect the desired value.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Team Manager 97. We are researching this problem and will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

To view the Status field for tasks or individual assignments, click the Tasks tab and from the View Banner list, select Task Status. Double-click the folder icon in from of a task's name to show assignment rows.

The Status field can be edited for both tasks and assignments. The list below discusses the relationship between the Status of a task and its assignments:

  • Any changes made to the Status of the task is forced down to all of its assignments.
  • If all the assignments have the same Status, then the task has the same Status as the assignments.
  • If the assignments do not all have the same Status, and if there is non-zero Actual Work on any task, then the task Status is, In Progress. Note that no assignment or task can have a Status of Not Started if it has non-zero Actual Work.
  • If the assignments do not all have the same Status, and if they all have zero Actual Work, and if there is at least one task with a Status of In Progress or Completed, then the task has a Status of In Progress.
  • If the assignments do not all have the same Status, and if they all have zero Actual Work, and if none has a Status of In Progress or Completed, then the task has a Status of Not Started.
