TMGR: Overtime If Needed Is for Days with Regular Work (161820)

SYMPTOMS

The Overtime Allowed field for an Overloaded assignment is set to If Needed, but Overtime Work is not being scheduled on dates from the assignment Start to Finish that don't have regular work.

This happens even though the Daily Overtime Limit in the person's Working Times indicates there is available Overtime Work for these dates, and even though scheduling Overtime Work on these dates would have helped to reduce or eliminate the Overloaded Work.

WORKAROUND

One or both of the methods below can help to reduce overloaded work.

Method 1

For a specific assignment, change Overtime Allowed to Always as follows:

  1. Click the Tasks tab and from the View Banner list, select Workload Planner.
  2. Click the task and on the Edit menu, click Task Properties. Click the Scheduling tab and click "Daily Limits & Overtime". In the Daily Limits dialog box, look in the People Assigned field to locate the appropriate assignment record.
  3. Click the Overtime Allowed field and choose Always from the list. Click OK. Click OK again.
Now available Overtime Work can be scheduled from the assignment Start to Finish, or until all the Remaining Work has been scheduled. It can even be scheduled on dates that have no scheduled regular work, including nonworking dates.

NOTE: How much Overtime Work is available on a specific date depends on the Daily Overtime Limits setting in the person's Working Times, and on how much of the person's Overtime Work has already scheduled for the person's other assignments on that date.

Method 2

Edit the person's Working Times so the person can do more regular work from the assignment Start to Finish. This method can effect all of the person's assignments scheduled on these dates.

  1. Click the People tab and from the View Banner list, select Working Times.
  2. In the left pane, select the person's name.
  3. In the right pane, select the appropriate date range or days of the week, and near the upper right corner of the window, click Edit Working Times.
  4. Click Working Time and edit Hours as desired. Click OK.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
