SUMMARY

When you take a roll of film to KITS Cameras you can have the photographs processed as digital images that are stored on 3.5" disks. These images are stored in a proprietory graphic format that requires special software to open them. This article explains how to import these images into Microsoft Publisher or other graphics-capable Windows applications.

To Install a KITS Image Disk

These steps assume your 3.5" disk drive is drive A:.
  1. Insert your KITS Image Disk into your A: drive.
  2. If you have Windows 95, click the Start Button and then click Run.

    -or-

    If you have Windows 3.1x, click Run on the Program Manager File menu.
  3. In the Run text box, type the following and then press Enter.

    a:\setup

  4. Click the Express Setup button and then click Continue.
  5. Choose a destination folder and then click Continue.
  6. In the Setup Succeeded dialog box, click OK.

To View Your Pictures

  1. If you have Windows 95, click Programs on the Start menu, point to Photo Diskette and then click the Photo Viewer shortcut.

    -or-

    If you have Windows 3.1x, open the Photo Diskette group and then double-click the Photo Viewer icon.
  2. Choose the roll of film you want to open by clicking the Date button.
  3. Click the thumbnail (preview picture) of the picture you wish to use in Publisher. If you want to copy only part of the picture, you can drag your mouse over the part of the picture you want to use.
  4. Click the Copy button.
  5. Start (or switch to) Microsoft Publisher (or the program in which you want to use the picture).
  6. If you are using Publisher, click Paste on the Edit menu.
The graphic images on your KITS Image Disk are all stored in a single catalog file with a .cat extension. You can alter the way the Photo Viewer application copies these images to the Windows Clipboard by clicking the Config button in Photo Viewer. The choices are:
  • Copy photo in Displayed Size
  • Copy photo in Full resolution and True color
