The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Team Manager

This article was previously published under Q161342

SYMPTOMS

A team member who works on tasks from multiple team files clicks the Send Updates command from Microsoft Team Manager for Team Members, Microsoft Schedule+, or Microsoft Outlook, but not all task updates are sent.

CAUSE

The Send Updates command only sends updates for tasks in the team file corresponding to the currently selected task list in the Send To drop-down list in Microsoft Team Manager for Team Members.

RESOLUTION

Send updates for one task list at a time.

To send updates for a specific task list in Microsoft Team Manager for Team Members, select the corresponding manager's initials from the Send To drop- down list in the upper-left corner of the Tasks tab, and then click the Send Updates button.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

When a team member works on tasks from multiple team files, Microsoft Team Manager for Team Members keeps the tasks from each team file in a separate task list. The Send To drop-down list determines which task list is displayed. The Send Updates button will only send updated information for the currently selected task list.

To see more information about the items in the Send To drop-down list, click the Options button and look in the Task Lists box. This box lists each team file that the member has accepted tasks from, including the manager's name, the location of the team file, and the initials listed in the Send To drop-down list.

Sending updates for multiple task lists is best done using Microsoft Team Manager for Team Members, rather than Microsoft Schedule+ or Microsoft Outlook, because in Microsoft Team Manager for Team Members, the team member can tell which task list is active by looking at the Send To drop- down list.

Microsoft Schedule+ and Microsoft Outlook always display all of a member's tasks from all team files in a single list. If a member makes changes to tasks from more than one team file and sends an update from Microsoft Schedule+ or Microsoft Outlook, updated information will only be sent to the manager corresponding to the currently (that is, the most recently) selected task list in Microsoft Team Manager for Team Members. There is no indication in Microsoft Schedule+ or Microsoft Outlook as to what the currently selected task list is, and there is no warning that updates are not being sent for some tasks.
