For information about how to edit the registry, view the Changing Keys And Values online Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). Note that you should make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat) before you edit the registry.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows 95. The registry is a system-wide database used for storing Windows 95 software and hardware configuration settings.

Escape from HorrorLand: Exporting a Saved Game

  1. Click the Start button, and then click Run.
  2. Type the following and then click OK:

    regedit

  3. When the Registry Editor appears, double-click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.
  4. Double-click the SOFTWARE folder, and then the DreamWorks Interactive folder.
  5. Click the HorrorLand folder once. A list of data is displayed on the right-hand side of the paned window.

Each saved game has two associated entries. You need to export SAVEGAME#(where # is the game number being saved) and GAME# together. If you saved your game under the name Goose, there is a key named SAVEGAME# with a value equal to "GOOSE". There is also be a key named GAME# that contains the actual data for the saved game. These two files must remain together.

For example, if you saved two games in Goosebumps: Escape from HorrorLand using two different names (Goose and Bumps), your registry information would look similar to the below information:
           Name Data
           ---- ----

           SAVEGAME0 "GOOSE"
           GAME0 00 00 00 00 0a 00 00 00 77 76 31 30...
           SAVEGAME1 "BUMPS"
           GAME0 00 00 00 00 0a 00 00 00 77 76 31 30...
