Custom Optional Component Prompts for Restart of Computer (160010)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit 3.2a
This article was previously published under Q160010 SYMPTOMS
When you set up Custom Optional Components, and if one of the components
finishes running before the other, the Custom Optional Component may
prompt you to restart the computer before the other component has
finished its setup process.
CAUSE
This was tested using VRML and Winzip as Custom Optional Components.
Because Winzip had several more setup steps than VRML, when VRML
finishes its setup process, it prompts you to restart the computer.
Winzip is still running its Setup program in the background.
If you restart the computer when you are first prompted, the setup
of Winzip will fail. You must restart the computer after all the
Setup programs are done.
WORKAROUND
The workaround for the problem is to provide a no reboot switch
to the Custom Optional Component being installed.
STATUS
