XFOR: Hiding Virtual Root Subtrees (159899)

If the visibility switch is set on any virtual root, a newsgroup under
that root should be inaccessible to the client, and the newsgroup should
not appear to the client. Currently the newsgroups are still visible.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue:
- Set permissions (ACLs) on the particular newstree you want hidden.
- In the Internet Service Manager (ISM), click NNTP Service.
- On the Directories tab, click the news <home> root.
- Select the Restrict Newsgroup Visibility check box.
If the selected newsgroups are still visible after restricting visibility,
check to make sure that ACLs were set properly. When using Internet
Explorer to set ACLs, you must click the "Replace Permissions on
Subdirectories" option to select it; it is not selected by default.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial
Internet System (MCIS) Internet News Server version 1.0.
