Goosebumps: ESC Key Instead of Inserting Disc 2 Hangs Computer (159741)

The information in this article applies to:

  • DreamWorks Interactive, Scholastic's Goosebumps Series: Escape from Horrorland 1.0

This article was previously published under Q159741

SYMPTOMS

If you press the ESC key on your keyboard to cancel the Goosebumps message that asks for Disc 2, and then you remove Disc 1, the computer stops responding (hangs).

CAUSE

The ESC key cancels the command to read the compact disc, but it does not cancel the game. The ESC key is used to activate the Options menu in the game and therefore will not cancel the game.

After you press the ESC key the first time, Goosebumps stops trying to access Disc 2, and starts trying to reload the scene from Disc 1. It cannot reload since Disc 1 is not in the drive.

RESOLUTION

Do not use the ESC Key to exit the game.

If you insert Disc 1 again, note that it takes up to 30 seconds for the CD- ROM drive to recognize that a disc is in the drive.
