SUMMARY

This article discusses how to run Microsoft Project and Microsoft Team Manager on the same computer.

MORE INFORMATION

When Microsoft Team Manager and Microsoft Project are used on the same computer, most of the workgroup functionality is taken over by Microsoft Team Manager.

For example, when a TeamAssign message is sent from Microsoft Project, the Team Manager message handler will open the message. The tasks in the message are added to the active team file. Within Microsoft Team Manager you can then send a Microsoft Project status report message to update the message originator on the status of those tasks.

For these features to exist, Microsoft Team Manager must be installed or reinstalled after Microsoft Project is on the system.

Suppose you normally receive messages from a Microsoft Project manager, and you have both Microsoft Project and Microsoft Team Manager on your computer, and you don't want the tasks from the Microsoft Project manager to be incorporated into your Team Manager team file. In this case, you must run Projint.exe before opening the messages from the Microsoft Project manager and select Schedule+. Projint.exe does not have to be running for the selected option to take effect.

Projint.exe changes the necessary registration information so that Microsoft Team Manager does not handle messages from Microsoft Project. When run, the application provides a dialog box with the following choices:
Microsoft Project tasks should be written to:
   Team Manager
   Schedule+

Select Schedule+ and click OK in the dialog box to allow the Microsoft Project workgroup message handler to function normally and place the tasks sent from Microsoft Project into Schedule+, if it is available.

Select Team Manager and click OK in the dialog box to allow the Microsoft Team Manager workgroup message handler to place the tasks sent from Microsoft Project into the current Team Manager team file.

Projint.exe works only with Microsoft Mail in Windows NT 3.51, Microsoft Exchange, or Microsoft Outlook. The mail program should not be running when you use Projint.exe. If the mail program is running when you use Projint.exe, to switch the messaging options, you must exit the mail program and then restart it for the changes to take effect.

Obtaining Projint.exe

You can find Projint.exe in Projtm.exe, a self-extracting executable that you can download. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:
