TMGR: Access Denied Error Message Opening Team File (159381)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Team Manager

This article was previously published under Q159381

SYMPTOMS

When a user tries to open a team file from a folder that has read-only permissions, the user may receive the following error message:
Access is denied. You cannot save a file to this folder because it is read only, or the floppy you are writing to is write protected.
This occurs even though the user is only trying to open a file.

WORKAROUND

In order to work around this issue, either assign permissions to the folder so that the user is able to create files, or copy the team file to the user's local hard drive.

MORE INFORMATION

When Team Manager opens a file, it creates two temporary files: File.ldb and File.rlk. The user must have permissions to create files in the folder where the team file is located in order to be able to open the file.
