SYMPTOMS

When you make a payment using Online Bill Payment through Intuit Service Center (ISC), you receive the following error message:
One or more instructions you sent could not be processed. Click OK and read the details in the Call Summary dialog box.
In the Call Summary dialog box, you receive the following error message:
Invalid Account Number

CAUSE

When you send payments electronically, you cannot send the remittance coupon that comes with your bill. Some payment processing centers cannot process payments without a remittance coupon. This may result in delayed payments.

To ensure that your payments are not sent to an address that does not accept payments without coupons, Intuit Service Center (ISC) began a validation process on October 30, 1996. ISC checks the account number for your payee against a list of merchants. If it recognizes the account number as belonging to one of its merchants, it verifies that the address is valid for payments without coupons.

If the address entered is not valid for the account number entered, you receive the error messages described earlier.

RESOLUTION

Call your merchant to confirm the address you should use for sending payments without payment coupons.
