Invalid Account Number
CAUSE
When you send payments electronically, you cannot send the remittance
coupon that comes with your bill. Some payment processing centers cannot
process payments without a remittance coupon. This may result in delayed
payments.
To ensure that your payments are not sent to an address that does not
accept payments without coupons, Intuit Service Center (ISC) began a
validation process on October 30, 1996. ISC checks the account number for
your payee against a list of merchants. If it recognizes the account
number as belonging to one of its merchants, it verifies that the address
is valid for payments without coupons.
If the address entered is not valid for the account number entered, you
receive the error messages described earlier.
RESOLUTION
Call your merchant to confirm the address you should use for sending
payments without payment coupons.
