This article was previously published under Q159332 SYMPTOMS
When you click Microsoft on the Web on the Help menu and then click one of
the Web Help topics, such as the Microsoft Office Home Page, the default
Windows browser program does not start and no error message displays.
CAUSE
Some web browsers do not register themselves with the Microsoft Windows
registry. A web browser must be registered with Windows because a Uniform
Resource Locator (URL) HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is used when you
run the Microsoft on the Web help command.
RESOLUTION
If the web browser that is installed does not register itself, contact the
manufacturer of the web browser for information or an updated version, if
available. Modification of the Microsoft Windows registry is not
recommended or supported by Microsoft technical support.
STATUS
This is by design of the Web Help used within Microsoft Office 97.
