PI: 1.0: Windows Printer Settings Changed (158583)

SYMPTOMS

If you change printer settings such as page size in Picture It! and then switch to another application such as Excel 7.0a, Publisher 95, or WordPad the second application may use those printer setting too.

CAUSE

When you use Change Printer Settings in Picture It! you are changing the printer settings in Windows, not just in Picture It!. Any program that uses the printer settings from the Windows Control Panel will be affected.

RESOLUTION

To change the Windows printer settings, do the following:
  1. Click Start button, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
  2. Using the right mouse button,right-click to select the printer whose properties you want to change.
  3. Click Properties, and then change the printer settings you desire.
  4. Click OK to exit the Control Panel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Picture It! version 1.0 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
