DreamWorks: DirectX Sound Issues with Reveal Sound Card (158535)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to run one of the products listed at the top of this article, you may experience one of the following symptoms:

  • You receive the following error message:
    Error initializing sound
  • The program runs, but you do not hear any sound.
This occurs if a Reveal SC400 sound card is installed in your computer.

CAUSE

The Reveal SC400 sound card does not support DirectX version 3.0.

MORE INFORMATION

Although the games run without sound, some game areas such as the aqua house puzzle in The Neverhood, are dependent on your ability to hear the sound.

Installing the latest version of DirectX may resolve this issue.
