Text Import Wizard May Not Run With Virus Search Add-In (158283)

When you open a text file in Microsoft Excel the Text Import Wizard may not
run and your data will be opened, unparsed, into column A of your
worksheet.
CAUSE
You may experience the above behavior if both of the following are true:
- You are manually opening a text file.
-and-
- You have a version, other than version 1.2, of the Virus Search Add-In,
Xlscan.xla, installed on your computer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue so that the Text Import Wizard runs when you open a
text file, remove your current version of the Virus Search add-in, obtain
version 1.2 from the Microsoft World Wide Web site, and install this
version on your computer:
- Uninstall the Virus Search add-in you currently have installed.
- Click Add-Ins on the Tools menu.
- In the Add-Ins dialog box, clear the check box for "Microsoft Excel
Virus Search" and click OK.
- Exit Microsoft Excel.
- Delete the file, Xlscan.xla, from the \Msoffice\Excel\Library
folder.
- Obtain version 1.2 of the Virus Search add-in, Xlscan.xla.

STATUS
This problem was corrected in version 1.2 of the Microsoft Excel Virus
