BUG: Create New Class Includes Classes Not in CLASSPATH (157896)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visual J++ 1.0
- Microsoft Visual J++ 1.1
This article was previously published under Q157896 SYMPTOMS
When you type an asterisk (*) in the Extends field of the Create New Class
dialog box, classes not in the current CLASSPATH may show up. The CLASSPATH
is set in Tools.Options.Directories,Class files. For example, classes in
other projects in the same workspace may show up. If you select one of
those classes to extend, you may get errors when you build the project,
because Visual J++ cannot find their .class files.
WORKAROUND
When using the Create New Class dialog box to create a class that extends
an existing one, select or type in only class names that are in the same
project or are in the current CLASSPATH.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
