PUB: Can't Collate Copies to HP DeskJet 855c Under Windows 95 (155106)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Publisher for Windows 3.0
- the operating system: Microsoft Windows 95
This article was previously published under Q155106 SYMPTOMS
If you check the Collate box in the Publisher Print dialog and print multiple
copies of a multi-page publication to a Hewlett-Packard (HP)
DeskJet 850c/855c, the copies print sorted instead of collated.
This problem does not occur when printing to the HP DeskJet 540c/550c/560c
or the 600c/660c printers. Nor does this problem occur if you print to
the HP DeskJet 850c/855c from Windows NT.
CAUSE
Some printers can collate pages automatically while other printers require
that Publisher send the publication multiple times. If the printer can
collate copies automatically, Publisher tries to save time and disk space
by having it do so. The Windows 95 Driver for the HP DeskJet 850c/855c
printer incorrectly reports that the printer can handle the collation, when
in reality it can't.
Other programs, such as Microsoft WordPad and Microsoft Internet Explorer,
have similar problems printing collated copies to the DeskJet 850c/855c.
RESOLUTION
If you don't wish to collate the copies manually, you can try printing
your publication to the HP DeskJet 850c/855c using the HP DeskJet 660c
driver.
STATUS
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information
