TMGR: Identical Recurring Tasks Cause Scheduling Conflict (149755)

This article was previously published under Q149755 SUMMARY
If two recurring tasks are scheduled for the same time frame and have the
same people assigned, the second recurring task will be in conflict with
the first. When you click the red conflict indicator on one of the sub-
tasks, you receive the following message:
This task is constrained to start exactly on a certain date. The
constraint cannot be met either because that date is a non working
day or because someone assigned to this task is assigned to another
task with a conflicting start constraint.
CAUSE
Recurring tasks have a constraint of "Start task Exactly on:," which forces
the second recurring task to come into conflict with the first.
WORKAROUND
You cannot directly edit the constraint field(s) in the Task Properties
dialog box of a recurring task. However, the field "Start on Earliest
Start," which has a Yes/No value, can be used to manipulate the constraint.
Insert the column for "Start on Earliest Start" into a task sheet and
change the value to No. This sets the constraint to "Start task On or
After" and resolves the conflict.
