OFF95: Visual Basic Support Numbers Appear in Office Help (148457)

SYMPTOMS

In any of the Office programs listed at the beginning of this article, when you use Help to view information regarding Office technical support, the Help file displays information regarding Visual Basic for Windows technical support instead.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are met:

  • You use a computer that is running Windows 95.

    -and-
  • You install either the Enterprise or the Professional Edition of Microsoft Visual Basic Programming System for Windows, version 4.0, after you install Office.

    -and-
  • You click About <Office Program> on the Help menu in an Office program, where <Office Program> is Microsoft Excel, Word, or PowerPoint.

    -and-
  • You click Tech Support, and double-click Product Support Within The United States And Canada.

    -and-
  • You double-click either Standard Support or Priority Support.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, view the Getting Help topic in the Office Program Help file. To do this, use the following steps:

  1. In an Office program, on the Help menu, click <Office Program> Help Topics.
  2. Double-click Getting Help, double-click Technical Support, and then, double-click either Standard Support or Priority Support.
