Works 3.0

Open a spreadsheet document or use the instructions in the Works 3.0 "User's Guide," Chapter 3, "Guide to the Spreadsheet," page 154, to create a new spreadsheet document.

  1. Select the rows and columns of cells in the spreadsheet to be used to create the chart.
  2. On the Chart menu, click New Chart.
  3. On the Chart menu, click Define Chart.
  4. Select Pie from the Chart Type drop down menu.

    NOTE: For instructions for entering or changing values, refer to the Works 3.0 "User's Guide," Chapter 4, "Guide to Charting," page 234.
  5. Click OK. The new chart should appear on top of the spreadsheet window. To move or resize the chart, use the Arrow tool.
  6. To edit the chart, click the chart to select it.
  7. On the Chart menu, click Touch Up.

    NOTE: Holding down the Option key while clicking the chart automatically activates the Touch Up command.
  8. Click a pie slice and then drag it with the mouse to move it. Each slice should move individually.

    NOTE: The legends may not move with the slices. It may be necessary to create a text object by using the Text tool to create new legends.

Works 4.0

Open a spreadsheet document or use the instructions in the Works 4.0 "User's Guide," Chapter 6, "Guide to the Spreadsheet," page 307, to create a new spreadsheet document.

  1. Select the rows and columns of cells to be used to create the chart.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Create New Chart.
  3. On the Edit menu, point to Works Chart Object, and then click Define Chart.
  4. Select Pie from the Chart Type drop down menu.

    NOTE: For instructions for entering or changing values, refer to the Works 4.0 "User's Guide," Chapter 7, "Guide to Charting," page 375.
  5. Click OK.

    NOTE: The new chart should appear on top of the spreadsheet window. To move or resize the chart, use the Arrow tool.
  6. To edit the Chart, click the chart to select it.
  7. On the Edit menu, point to Works Chart Object, and then click Touch Up.

    NOTE: Holding down the Option key while clicking the chart automatically activates the Touch Up command.
