Mac Works 4.0: Errors When Computer Is Started from CD-ROM (147899)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Works 4.0, you may receive either of the following error messages:

  • Works 4.0 Preferences is either locked or corrupted. Please unlock Works 4.0 Preferences or remove it and try again.
  • The Application "Microsoft Works 4.0" could not be opened because "Microsoft_OLE2" could not be found.

RESOLUTION

These error messages may indicate that the computer was started from the System CD-ROM. If this is the case, restart the computer and eject the System CD-ROM.
