Mac Srv: Err Msg: There Are Multiple Bridges to this Site (147595)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Mail for AppleTalk Networks 3.1

This article was previously published under Q147595

SYMPTOMS

When you choose the Configure Routing option in the Mail Network Administrator tool, you may get the following error message:
There are multiple bridges to this site.
When you select the sites from the Configure Routing option, only one site is indicated as a bridgehead.

Also, when you run a routing report from Mail Network Administrator, the report will show more than one site as being bridged. The following error will appear with the information for the affected site:
*******************************************
** WARNING: Multiple bridges detected **
*******************************************

CAUSE

Two or more servers in a site have been marked as bridgeheads to that site.

This is by design; only one server per site can be the bridgehead server. The Configure Routing option can only display one server as the bridgehead server. As a result, the site may seem to be configured correctly; however, the routing report displays the actual routing information.

RESOLUTION

Use the following steps to correct this problem:
  1. Backup the Microsoft Mail Data file. The Command+D key combination will duplicate the datafile so that it can be moved to a safe location.
  2. Sign in to AppleTalk Mail as the Network Manager on the affected server.
  3. Launch the Mail Network Administrator tool.
  4. From the Configure Routing option, select the affected site.
  5. Click OK to clear the error message.
  6. Choose No Connection from the list of servers in the site. Click OK.
  7. Continue to reselect the Configure Routing option and select No Connection until there is only one bridgehead server selected. Now, the error message will not appear when the site is selected.
  8. Choose the correct bridge server for the site. Click OK.
