PRB: Cannot Select the Desktop Folder with the GETDIR() Dialog (147342)

SYMPTOMS

In the dialog box displayed when the GETDIR() function is called, you cannot select the Desktop folder or the Macintosh HD because they do not appear in the list of folders. On the Windows platform, the GETDIR() dialog box allows you to select the root directory. Cross platform applications may thus behave differently.

CAUSE

The dialog box displayed with GETDIR() is a standard Macintosh system dialog box and behaves as designed.

RESOLUTION

  1. Select Desktop from the dropdown list.
  2. In the list that displays the folders, click a blank space on the list. This de-selects the highlighted directory.
  3. Click Select.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
