This article was previously published under Q147252 SYMPTOMS
When you use both bold and italic formatting for the text in your document,
when you print your document, it is printed only with italic formatting.
CAUSE
This happens when the following conditions are true:
- the text is formatted with Courier 10 or 12 point font
-and-
- you are using the Hppcl5ms.drv printer driver.
WORKAROUND
Method 1:
Use a different printer driver.
If you are running Windows 3.1, use the Hppcl5a.drv printer
driver. Although it is older than the Hppcl5ms.drv printer
driver, it does not exhibit this problem.
If you are running Windows 95, use the driver supplied with the
operating system, rather than the Hppcl5ms.drv printer driver,
which was designed for Windows 3.1.
Method 2:
Use a different font.
Format the text with the TrueType font Courier New, which is
nearly identical in appearance to the printer font Courier.
