SYMPTOMS

If you add an input mask to a table that already contains data, the Find feature fails to work properly when the field's data does not meet the criteria of the input mask. For example, in Microsoft Access 2.0, a Find action fails if you type a string into the Find What box and include the input mask field in the search criteria (by selecting the All Fields or the Current Field option). In Microsoft Access 7.0 and 97, a Find action fails if you type a string into the Find What box and select the All Fields option.

RESOLUTION

You can work around this situation in the following ways:
  • Do not include the input mask field in the Find criteria.
  • Remove the input mask, perform the Find action, and then add the input mask back.
  • Modify data in the input mask field to meet the criteria of the input mask.
