When you double-click the title bar of the Word document window to resize
it, the window shrinks to the size of the title bar.
CAUSE
You are using a Control Panel device, called WindowShade or Appearance
(Macintosh System version 8) that gives you the option to hide windows,
leaving only the title bar. By default, WindowShade is configured to
minimize the document window to the size of the title bar when you double-
click the title bar.
WORKAROUND
Change the WindowShade or Appearance Control Panel configuration.
To do this in WindowShade, change the configuration so that it is not using
two-clicks, or change it so that you are using a modifier in addition to
the two-clicks. For example, set it to resize the window when you click
three times or when you press Command key+double-click.
To do this with Macintosh System 8, open the Appearance Control Panel.
Under Collapsing Windows, you have the following choices. Deselect the
first one:
Double-click title bar to collapse
Play sound when collapsing window.
