SYMPTOMS

Changes you make to an embedded Microsoft Excel object are not saved when you quit Microsoft Excel. This problem occurs when you edit a Microsoft Excel object that has been embedded by clicking Object on the Insert menu or by using the "Insert Microsoft Excel Worksheet" button on the toolbar.

WORKAROUND

To ensure that the changes you make to an edited Microsoft Excel object are saved, do one of the following:
  • Type the information you want in the embedded object, and then press the ENTER key or the TAB key. The insertion point moves to the next cell. Press CTRL+S to save the value in the embedded object, and then click outside of the worksheet to return to Word. This will update the object.
  • After editing the Microsoft Excel object, press CTRL+S, and then click outside of the worksheet to return to Word. This will update and save the object.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article.
