PUB: OLE Objects Update Twice When Printer Changed (140003)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Publisher for Windows 3.0
This article was previously published under Q140003 SYMPTOMS
When you change the target printer for a publication, Publisher
updates each OLE object twice. This means that there is a period after
you change the printer in which you can't edit your publication.
During this time, the OLE objects may appear to blink twice.
CAUSE
This behavior is by design. Many types of OLE objects change their behavior
depending on the target printer. Microsoft Organization Chart, for example,
gets its list of available fonts from the printer driver.
When you change the target printer, Publisher quickly opens each OLE object
in turn to notify it of the printer change. After notifying all the
objects, Publisher then goes back through the list of OLE objects to find
out if the printer change has affected how any of the OLE objects appear or
print.
