PRJ: Setup Doesn't Create Icon If Program Manager Used in Windows 95 (137544)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
- Microsoft Project for Windows 95 4.1
This article was previously published under Q137544 SYMPTOMS
If Microsoft Project is installed on a system that runs Windows 95 through
the use of the Windows 3.1 Program Manager shell, setup will not create an
icon for Microsoft Project in the Programs group. Instead, the Microsoft
Project icon will be placed on the Start menu as if the normal Windows
Explorer shell was in use.
WORKAROUND
There is no workaround for this behavior. When the Windows 3.1 interface
is chosen to be the interface for Windows 95, Setup does not have an option
to create the icon in the Program group.
If you want to create an within a Program Manager group, click the File menu, click New, click Program Item and click OK. Click the Browse button and find the Winproj executable file, Winproj.exe. Click OK. An icon will be created.
