SUMMARY

If your project contains more than one definition for the same bar style, an individual task's bar cannot be formatted using the Bar command on the Format menu. However, you can double-click the bar for that task in the Gantt Chart to format the bar.

MORE INFORMATION

When two styles are displayed for the same bar, the second defined style is displayed on top of the first. Using the Bar command changes an individual task's first bar style, whereas double-clicking the bar for that task in the Gantt Chart forces the bar on top to be formatted.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. In a new Project file, create three tasks A, B, and C.
  2. Select all three tasks and link them.
  3. Select task A and click Bar from the Format menu.

Change the color of task A to purple. Click OK.
  4. Click Bar Styles from the Format menu. Select the first row and click the Cut Row button. Click the Paste Row button twice and click OK.

NOTE: Task A is still purple, but link to Task B is now blue.
  5. Select B, and click Bar from the Format menu. Change the color to purple, and click OK.

NOTE: Task B is still blue, but the arrow showing the link to Task C is purple.
  6. Double click on the Gantt bar for Task C and change the color to purple. Click OK.

NOTE: The color of Task C is purple.
  7. Click Bar Styles from the Format menu, select the first row and click on the Cut Row button. Click OK.
NOTE: Formatting to Task B is lost and all link arrows appear as expected.
