Works 95 Error: "The System Telephone Dialer is Unavailable" (136296)

When you try to use the Dial This Number Command in Works, you may receive
one of the following error messages:
The system telephone dialer is unavailable.
This command requires the installation of a telephone dialer component.
Use Phone Dialer to handle voice call requests from other programs.
CAUSE
The Works Dial This Number feature requires Phone Dialer, a communications
component of Windows 95. Works sends commands to the Phone Dialer to
complete the Dial This Number command.
The second error message can also be caused if the Use Phone Dialer option
is turned off.
NOTE: This option is on by default.
RESOLUTION
Install the Windows 95 Phone Dialer and enable the Use Phone Dialer option.
NOTE: Make sure you have your Windows 95 disks or CD-ROM available in case Setup needs to install the Phone Dialer from the setup disks.
Installing Phone Dialer
To install Phone Dialer, do the following:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click
Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click the Windows Setup tab.
- Click Communications, then click Details.
- Click Phone Dialer.
- Click OK, and then click Apply.
Enabling Use Phone Dialer Option
To enable the Use Phone Dialer option, do the following:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to
Accessories, and then click Phone Dialer.
- On the Tools menu, click Connect Using.
- Click Use Phone Dialer To Handle Voice Call Requests From Other
Programs. Click OK.
