To delete or to rename a Money data file in Microsoft Windows XP, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Search.
  2. Click Tools, and then click Folder options.
  3. Click the View tab, click to clear the check box in front of Hide extensions for known file types, and then click OK.
  4. On the left, click All files and Folders.
  5. In the All or part of the file name box, type the name of the file that you want to delete or rename.
  6. In the Look in box, click My Computer.
  7. Click Search.
  8. To delete the file, right-click the file that you want to delete in the list of found files, and then click Delete.

    If you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes. To rename the file, right-click the file that you want to rename in the list of found files, click Rename, press the END key, type .old, and then press ENTER.
To delete or rename a Money data file in earlier versions of Windows, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Search, and then click All Files and Folders.
  2. Click Tools, and then click Folder Options.
  3. Click the View tab, click to clear the check box in front of Hide extensions for known file types, and then click OK.
  4. In the All or part of the file name box, type the name of the file that you want to delete or rename.
  5. In the Look in box, click My Computer.
  6. Click More Advanced Options, click to select the check box in front of Search Subfolders, and then click Search.
  7. To delete the file, right-click the file that you want to delete in the list of found files, and then click Delete.

  8. If you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
  9. To rename the file, right-click the file that you want to rename in the list of found files,and then click Rename.
  10. Change the name of the file to make sure that you keep the current file extension--for example, for Money files, .mny, .mbf, .mnx, .mxx. In this example, x is the version number of your Money data file.
  11. Press ENTER, press the END key, type .old, and then press ENTER again.
