Some Toshiba Laptop Computers Do Not Suspend Automatically (132765)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 95
- Microsoft Windows 98
This article was previously published under Q132765 SYMPTOMS
If you are running Windows on a Toshiba laptop computer, the computer may
not automatically go into low-power suspended mode.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because some Toshiba laptop computers monitor the
interrupt request (IRQ) lines (except IRQ 0) to determine if the system is
busy. Any hardware interrupt (other than 0) resets the auto-suspend timer.
Windows generates interrupts that prevent these computers from going into
low-power suspended mode.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, suspend the computer by clicking Start and
then clicking Suspend, or use the hardware switch.
