This article was previously published under Q130030 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to install the LAN Manager MS-DOS Enhanced Workstation
over the network on a computer with MS-DOS version 6.22, the following
error message appears:
The DOS version on the bootable disk is not
supported by LAN Manager 2.2.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem:
- Copy the MS-DOS version 6.22 SETVER.EXE file to the root directory of
the bootable floppy disk.
- Use a text editor such as MS-DOS Editor to add the following line to the
CONFIG.SYS file:
device=<drive>:\setver.exe
where <drive> is drive A (the boot drive).
- Rename the AUTOEXEC.BAT file on the bootable floppy disk to another
name. For example:
rename autoexec.bat autoexec.otn - Reboot the computer.
- Type the following at the command prompt:
- Rename the AUTOEXEC.OTN file to AUTOEXEC.BAT.
- Reboot the computer and install the LAN Manager MS-DOS Enhanced
Workstation over the network again.
