SYMPTOMS

Word Styles that have not been used in the current document are not available when you choose Find or Replace from the Edit menu. (To locate this option in the Find or Replace dialog boxes, choose Style from the Format drop-down list.)

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Word for Windows listed above. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

RESOLUTION

To make styles available for Edit Find or Edit Replace, you must first apply the styles in the current document. To do this,
  1. Position the insertion point in a paragraph or select some text.
  2. From the Format menu, choose Style. If the desired style is not displayed in the Styles list box, choose All Styles from the List box.
  3. Select the desired Style and choose the Apply button.
