SUMMARY

When you create SQL devices larger than 3 gigabytes (GB), you must upgrade the Windows NT version 3.1 system to U.S. Service Pack 2 or later. The Service Pack 2 upgrade is not retroactive when applied to prior SQL devices.

To create SQL devices larger than 3 GB on Windows NT version 3.1:

  1. Install Windows NT version 3.1.
  2. Install Service Pack 2 or later.
  3. Create the partition that will hold the SQL device.
  4. Load SQL Server.
  5. Create the SQL device.
  6. Create database.
