Works: Placeholders Print Instead of the Database Information (121396)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works 3.0
- Microsoft Works 3.0a
- Microsoft Works 3.0b
This article was previously published under Q121396 SYMPTOMS
If a database placeholder is not found in the first 1000 characters of
a word processing document, Works will not automatically detect that
you are doing a print merge or prompt you to choose a database.
If you do not manually select to do a merge at this time, the
placeholders will print as field names surrounded by chevrons (<<>>).
RESOLUTION
To print your form letter with the merged field(s), use the following
steps:
- From the File menu, choose Print.
- Select Print merge from the Print dialog and choose OK.
- Works will now prompt you to select a database. Once you have done
this, choose OK.
The form letter will print your database information instead of the
placeholder(s).
