SYMPTOMS

When you use the Horizontal Tile or Vertical Tile function in Microsoft Windows Task Manager, certain application windows overlap one another.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design.

When you choose the Tile button in the Microsoft Windows or Windows for Workgroups Task Manager (TASKMAN.EXE), any application windows that are not sizable (such as Calculator) may overlap existing open applications. This same behavior can occur when you choose Horizontal Tile or Vertical Tile in the Microsoft IntelliType Task Manager (TASKSW16.EXE).

The manufacturer of an application determines whether or not the window(s) for its application should be sizable. CALC.EXE is an example of a Windows- based application in which the window frame cannot be sized (that is, it is either minimized or maximized).
