Toolbar Button Image Changes Unexpectedly (119209)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 95
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 5.0c
This article was previously published under Q119209 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel, when you open a workbook that has been saved with an
attached toolbar, the Currency Style button image ($) may appear on a
button on the toolbar instead of the button image that appeared when you
saved the workbook.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you copy a built-in toolbar button image to
a button on a toolbar, copy the toolbar to a workbook, and then
delete the toolbar from the workspace. This behavior does not occur if you
paste an edited button image to a button on the custom toolbar, or if you
edit the image after pasting it to the button. The button image that
appears is a dollar sign (the image that appears on the Currency Style
toolbar button).
This problem occurs only if there is no other toolbar with the same
name as the toolbar attached to the workbook that you open.
WORKAROUND
To avoid having the button image on your custom toolbar change to the
Currency Style image, do the following after you paste the button image:
- From the View menu, choose Toolbars, and choose the Customize button.
- From your custom toolbar, choose the button with the copied button
image and click the right mouse button.
- From the shortcut menu, choose Edit Button Image. In the Button Editor
dialog box, choose OK. You do not have to make any changes to the button
image.
- Close the Customize dialog box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
