This article was previously published under Q111242 SYMPTOMS
In Works 3.0, when you open a document created in Works 2.0 that contains
one or more Microsoft Draw objects, the keyboard may fail to respond when
you attempt to type text. The ALT key will continue to work, so you can use
the menus.
RESOLUTION
To return the keyboard to its proper behavior, access any menu option
that will display a dialog box on the screen. You can then choose the
Cancel button to return to the Word Processor and type normally.
For example:
- From the File menu, choose Print Preview using the mouse OR the
keyboard (ALT+F+V).
- Choose the Cancel button or press ESC to close the Print Preview
window.
The keyboard will now work correctly.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Works version 3.0 for
Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
