Works: Label/Envelope Field Inserted Incorrectly (110067)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q110067 SYMPTOMS
When you insert placeholders into an envelope or label main document, and
then return to the Envelopes and Labels dialog box to change the
placeholders you inserted, the previously inserted fieldnames are
highlighted, and the insertion point appears on the first blank line.
However, unless you remove the highlight on the existing fieldnames, the
new placeholder will be inserted on the first line, before the first
existing placeholder.
This behavior is by design.
For more information about inserting placeholders and printing mailing
labels and envelopes, see pages 505-515 in the "Microsoft Works for Windows
User's Guide."
RESOLUTION
If you want to insert a new placeholder following the existing ones,
remove the highlight on the existing fieldnames first, and position the
cursor where you want the new field to go.
-or-
Use the Insert menu to add database fields after the label or envelope is
created:
- Position the cursor where you want the new field.
- From the Insert menu, choose Database Field.
- Select the field you want in the document and choose the Insert
button.
- Choose the Close button to return to the document.
