Service Names Are Different for Stop and Pause (103648)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows NT Server 3.1
- Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 3.1
This article was previously published under Q103648 SUMMARY
When using the Services option in Control Panel, services may be
identified differently in the Stop and Pause dialog boxes.
For example, in the Stop dialog box, the Server service is referred to
as the "Server" service, but in the Pause dialog box, it is referred
to as the "LanmanServer" service.
For the Stop dialog, Windows NT uses the display name of the service
that is stored in the registry. For the Pause dialog, Windows NT will
use the key name of the service from the registry. This behavior is by
design.
