====================================================================== SoftDVD Update MCI BUILD 2.125_9.01 ====================================================================== Supported Products ------------------ Viper V550 AGP Monster Fusion Z100 AGP Monster Sound MX300 Installation Information ------------------ 1) Uninstall any old, previously installed version of SoftDVD. 1) Download the executable file. Note the directory to which it saved (target directory). 2) Shut down any applications before proceeding with the installation. 3) Select "Start", "Run", and type "x:\filename.exe" (where x:\filename represents the target directory and filename the executable saved as). Features Added/Issues Addressed ------------------------------- 1) Multiregion support (1-6) added. The old versions only supported region 1. 2) AMD Support 3) Various bugs fixed 4) More Robust: Will warn users of unsupported system configurations (i.e. unsupported processors) 5) Added support to 2nd generation DVD Drives 6) SCSI controller compatibility added. Limitations ----------- 1) Region 2: Kopfgeld (Ransom) - Not able to play due to parental rating - doesn't matter whether the parental control 2) SoftDVD locks if DVD drive is not selected during configuration. If the CD-rom drive is selected instead of the DVD drive (i.e. if user selects drive "d" as the DVD drive; where "d" actually represents the CD ROM) the system will lock-up when the user attempts to play a DVD title. - Proposed Solution: Press Control-Alt-Del and select "End Task", re-run the configuration and select the correct drive (letter corresponding to the DVD drive) 3) If the DVD drive has Auto-Insert Notification disabled, there will be problems switching between different DVD discs (i.e. Start SoftDVD with "DVD Disk A" | run disc | Close SoftDVD | Insert a different disk, "DVD Disk B" | Start SoftDVD | it will either show parts of Disk A or may start playing B, but will usually crash or jump around to different parts of B 4) MX300: When the "Generate SPDIF Output" option in the "SoftDVD Properties>Audio Settings" is enabled, .wav (analog audio) output of the DVD player is disabled. If your system does not contain hardware with a S/PDIF output (ex. Monster Sound MX-25, etc.), you will not be able to hear the DVD's audio content. To remedy this situation, uncheck the afforementioned option. ======================================================================= Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc.
