Overview
--------
This installation CD-ROM or downloadable installation image provides a 
central location for all drivers, applications, and other support files 
required by the Rio PMP300 product. This image is organized into 
subdirectories, each containing the specific revision of files to 
support a particular operating system. For additional operating system 
specific information regarding the installation and operation of the 
Rio PMP300 (if any), please refer to the readme.txt file in the 
appropriate subdirectory.


Hardware Installation Instructions
----------------------------------
   1. With system power off, plug the male end of the Rio parallel port
      adapter into an available parallel port connector on your PC.

   2. If another device (such as a printer or Zip drive) is using your 
      parallel port, you may plug the cable for that device into the 
      female end of the Rio parallel port adapter. This will allow
      you to use the parallel port for Rio and the other device.
   
   3. Plug one end of the Rio interface cable into the parallel port
      adapter, and plug the other end into the Rio player.
   
   4. Insert an AA battery (+ side first) into the Rio battery
      compartment located on the bottom edge of the player.
   
   5. The Rio player will briefly display the memory configuration then
      "Stop" to indicate that the player is not in use.
   
   6. You are now ready to download songs to your Rio player. Power
      on your system and proceed with the Software Installation 
      Instructions.


Software Installation Instructions
----------------------------------
   1. Insert the Rio installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The Setup
      program should automatically start. If Setup does not start, you
      can manually browse the CD and double-click on the Setup.exe 
      program.

   2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install your Rio drivers and
      software.


Software Upgrade Instructions
-----------------------------
If you have previously installed the Rio PMP300 drivers and software,
follow these instructions:

   1. Run the Setup program located in the root of this install image.

   2. Follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade your Rio drivers and
      software.


Operating System Support
------------------------
The following operating systems are supported with this release of the
Rio PMP300 software:

   * Windows 95:  4.00.950a (Retail)
                   Support for this OS requires 
                   Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later, 
                   for only the redistribution files please goto 
                   the Diamond Multimedia website.

   * Windows 95:  4.00.950b (OSR2)
                  4.00.950c (OSR2.5)

   * Windows 98


Directory Structure
-------------------
Below is a representation of the directory structure found on this 
CD-ROM, including a brief explanation of the contents of each directory.

   |----AutoRun.inf     This file is used for autorun under Windows.
   |
   |----Readme.txt      The file you are reading.
   |
   |----Remove.exe      Uninstall utility.
   |
   |----Setup.exe       Setup program for software utilities.
   |
   |----\EXTRAS         This directory contains additional free 
   |                    programs and content, including sample MP3
   |                    files.
   |                    [Note: Excluded on WEB images.]
   |
   |----\HELP           This directory contains the Rio PMP300
   |                    help files.
   |
   |----\WIN9X          This directory contains the Rio PMP300
                        drivers and software utilities for 
                        Windows 95/98.
