Monster Sound, Readme File Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc. ______________________________________________________________________ Release 1.01 INSTALLATION TIPS Install the Monster Sound card into an available PCI slot and tighten the bracket screw to the system chassis. After powering on the system Win95 will detect new multimedia hardware and prompt for the driver disk. Enter the full path to the installation CD. If you are running OSR2 you may be prompted a second time to locate certain Monster Sound related drivers. Again respond with the full path to the installation CD. For example, if your CD-ROM is drive letter D: you will need to enter "D:\Win95". After the drivers are installed, the Monster Sound setup program will start. Follow the on screen instructions to install the utility software. This includes setting the output mode (stereo vs. quad), configuring the output1 and output2 device(s), and assigning the preferred 3D device. FEATURES This release includes support for following functions and features: DirectSound and DirectSound3D (3D accelerated & enhanced via A3D) Windows Multi-Waveout full duplex audio Windows MIDI (with wavetable daughter card) Windows Mixer Sound Blaster Emulation for DOS based games (in Win95 DOS box) Accelerated Windows Gameport LIMITATIONS 1) This release does not support more than one Monster Sound card installed in your system. 2) The Sound Blaster Emulation feature does not support FM or Gameport emulation. It is recommended that you keep your existing legacy audio card installed in your system for the best DOS application support. 3) Digital joystick or gamepad devices may not work properly using the Monster Sound gameport. If the joystick or gamepad supports an analog configuration, try switching the device to analog mode, then recalibrate and retest. Note: The Microsoft SideWinder(tm) gamepad does not support analog mode and will not operate properly with Monster Sound for this release.
